Conservatives hold Uxbridge

Conservative candidate Steve Tuckwell has been elected MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

The vote shares in the parliamentary by-election result were


CON: 45.2% (-7.5)

LAB: 43.6% (+5.9)

GRN: 2.9% (+0.6)

REC: 2.3% (+2.3)

Conservative HOLD.


At the time of posting we do not have a result for Selby & Ainsty. The Lib/Dems won Somerton & Frome.

Two minutes' silence at noon BST today to commemorate the end of World War II

Today is the 80th anniversary of the surrender of Japan. There will be VJ Day 80 commemorations to mark the anniversary of the final end of the second world war. A series of events will be held in Britain and around the world, although the USA commemorates VJ day a few days later than we do.
