Kemi Badenoch elected Tory leader

I was pleased to see that Kemi Badenoch, for whom I voted, has been elected Conservative leader.














On a turnout of 72.% of eligible Conservative members she won by 53,806 votes to 43,801. Here is an extract from the statement by the returning officer:

Two minutes' silence at noon BST today to commemorate the end of World War II

Today is the 80th anniversary of the surrender of Japan. There will be VJ Day 80 commemorations to mark the anniversary of the final end of the second world war. A series of events will be held in Britain and around the world, although the USA commemorates VJ day a few days later than we do.
